Agenda Book 3-ring binder (NO spiral notebooks) Graphing Calculator → TI-83 plus or TI-84 plus Pencils Red pen Highlighter
Course Description: Prerequisite: Algebra II Honors This course is designed for students who are strong in mathematics and are planning on taking Calculus AP. The content of this course is a comprehensive presentation of trigonometry and a complete coverage of analytic geometry and elementary concepts from calculus such as limits, derivatives, and integrals. The use of a graphing calculator is an integral part of the course. Students are encouraged to purchase a graphing calculator so they will become adept at using this technology.
Instructional Philosophy:
I believe that ALL students can learn at a high level if they are taught with a variety of instructional strategies. It is the goal of this course to not only build students’ math skills, but also to build their confidence as math learners. In order to achieve these objectives, students will be expected to work individually, in groups and with technological resources to maximize their achievement. Students will have to demonstrate through traditional tests, quizzes, projects, an interactive notebook, and participation in the classroom that they have developed the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the standards of a Pre-calculus course.
The interactive notebook mentioned above will be used in all subjects this year. In this notebook you will demonstrate your ability to interact thoughtfully with text, visuals, data, phenomena, presentations, and one another. The interactive notebook will assist you in building new mathematical knowledge, skills, and understanding.
